About BibyGames

BibyGames is a free web game for children aged 3 to 7 that introduces letters and numbers through play. Their guide is Biby the fox. She says everything out loud, so the child doesn't need to read. There is not a single word of text in the game, only pictures, voice and touch.

In short

What's in the game

Two games with seven modes in total. Nothing is rushed, nothing is timed and mistakes are never punished. Biby just encourages the child and gives a hint after the second mistake. For every finished round the child gets stars, and now and then a sticker for the album.

Letters

Explore – a wall of 26 letters; tap one and Biby says its name and a word (“M is for mouse”). Find – Biby says a letter and the child picks it from the cards. Trace – tracing capital letters A–Z with a finger along the dots.

Numbers

Explore – digits 1–10 with exactly that many objects, and Biby counts out loud. Count – a pile of objects and a choice of the right number. Find – pick the number Biby said. Trace – digits 1–10 with a finger along the dots.

The game remembers what the child already knows and more often picks what still needs practice. Behind a parent lock (hold the gear icon for 2 seconds) there is a progress overview: which letters and numbers are mastered, the success rate over the last 14 days, records, and a way to move progress to another device.

Why I made it

I am building the game for my daughter. I wanted something that talks to her, has no ads, asks for no sign-up and collects no data about her. Most letters and numbers games come with a subscription or are paid for by ads. So I made one myself and left it open to everyone. I am not selling anything, and I keep tuning the game based on feedback from parents and teachers.

The game started in Czech, my daughter's language. The English version uses an American English voice, and the words that go with the letters were chosen anew for English rather than translated.

How the game works technically

BibyGames is a static web app (PWA) with no server and no accounts. It runs in the browser, and once added to the home screen it opens full screen in landscape. Progress, stars and stickers are stored in the browser's storage on the device. New versions download by themselves in the background. I measure anonymous traffic only (Google Analytics in cookieless mode) to know how many people open and start the game. Nothing about the child or their progress is ever sent anywhere.

Contact and feedback

The fastest way is the short feedback form (the form labels are in Czech, but feel free to write in English); the same form is behind the envelope icon in the corner of the game menu. Tell me what your child likes, what doesn't work or what would be good to add. Journalists and teachers are welcome; I am happy to send screenshots or a short video.

Want to recommend the game? A link to www.bibygames.com in a message to other parents or in a list of recommended apps helps the most. There is a Share button for that in the parent settings in the game. You can also support the running costs with a voluntary contribution.
